Anza en Calabazas

The Calabasas Anza Heritage Association presents, FREE to the public, "Anza en Calabazas", on Sunday, April 27, 2p.m, at King Gillette Ranch, Mulholland Highway at Las Virgines Rd.

A reenactment of a 1776 Spanish expedition, the first Europeans to travel from what is now central Mexico, to California, which the Spanish had thought was an island for nearly 300 years. In the course of their travels, they encountered, and traded with, Native American people. This is a reenactment of a day when people of different cultures got along well together.

The commemoration includes performances of Native Americans, Spanish dance, Guitar, and music students from Calabasas, Malibu, and Hidden Hills. For more information, call: (818) 882-4619

PIERCE COLLEGE FARM MARKET IN WOODLAND HILLS OPENS APRIL 2008

The Pierce Farm Market spans over 25 acres as one of the last operating farms in the San Fernando Valley. The Market is located on the south east corner of Victory and De Soto at the Pierce Farm Center. Help us bring back a tradition of the farm experience by supporting locally grown produce from our farm as well as farms within our area. A taste of harvest begins Saturday, April 5th and runs through our October Fall harvest festival.

This spring enjoy a variety of the fresh produce like strawberries - picked daily along with avocados, seasonal vegetables, jams and specialty products not found in traditional stores. All produce are locally grown if not by us, by a farm we know.

In addition, the Pierce Farm Center offers a new unique agricultural experience called the Pizza Farm. Children are introduced to a living, growing demonstration utilizing both animals and vegetables actually grown or grazing within each slice of a pizza! This allows children the ability to get up close to agricultural. This is a fun and interactive program for all age's beginning this May.
