Save Our Parks

In a move that has stunned nature lovers across the state, Gov. Schwarzenegger's latest budget proposal would shut down 20 percent of the state's parks, as well as cut down on lifeguards at state beaches. Of course, we all know California needs to balance the budget. But we're talking about a step that would save $9 million - less than 0.1 percent of the state budget. Meanwhile, the costs to our environment, our quality of life, and our confidence in state government would be incalculable.
Let's kill this idea before it gets any further. Click the link below to tell the governor to back off of this wrongheaded move. We need the governor to hear from as many people as possible.

Why do our children learn what they learn when they learn it in Waldorf schools?

The Parent Education and Resource Committee is pleased to announce an afternoon tea with the 12th grade class and their parents. The event will include an overview of the lower school curriculum presented by Lisa Profumo, our current fifth grade class teacher, and the high school curriculum presented by Karen Grant, one of our high school English teachers. Also, you will hear from an alumni student and a current 12th grade parent. Interspersed throughout the presentations, we will hear music offered by members of the senior class. Fifteen families of our current senior class have been at Highland Hall for 12 or more years. These families, and those who have joined us later, will share snapshots of their time here, news of the colleges to which their children have applied, and stories of transformation.
A question and answer session will conclude the formal part of the event, after which we will all break for refreshments and conversation while we look at student work displayed for your enjoyment. Three students will show main lesson work from 1st to 12th grade so that you can see the evolution of a Highland Hall student. Other students will contribute artwork and crafts. If you are wondering how your child will fare in this unique education, this is an opportunity to hear from and speak to parents and students who have been through it all.
