| West Hills - Free Kids Event!

Wanted! Children of all ages for a real country hoedown at West Hills Church. On the morning of May 22 the entire front lawn area of the church will be transformed into a magical country town even with its' own country hotel. It will be a day to remember with lots of activities, a petting zoo, arcade games, Bible stories, puppet shows, music and lots of prizes.
"The basic purpose is to have a fun filled event for the kids. We think it's pretty unique to have a day to reach out to them, "said the Pastor Dave Drummond. "In the process of playing games, getting prizes and watching the puppet shows, we can teach some basic life long bible lessons through bible stories."
There are so many things that children are exposed to these days, but to have a day reserved just for the children and to share the experience with their parents, grandparents and friends will be memories that they will have for many years to come.
Kids Jam is a FREE event. It will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at West Hills Church located at 7475 Fallbrook Ave. in West Hills, CA. Refreshments and entertainment will be available for purchase for parents to enjoy while their children play.
Sunday services, lead by Pastor. Dave Drummond, are held at 10:30 a.m. and also at 6:00 p.m. We hope to see you at Kids Jam and at our Sunday Services. All are welcome to attend.

PAID SUMMER INTERNSHIPS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS
AVAILABLE THROUGH LOS ANGELES COUNTY ARTS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Internship positions close as soon as they are filled through May 31.

Los Angeles County has given grants totaling $250,000 to arts organizations throughout Los Angeles County to support paid internships for college undergraduates in summer 2010. Descriptions of and contacts for the internship positions are posted on the Arts Commission's Web site. Go to www.lacountyarts.org, Interested students should act as soon as positions are posted as there is stiff competition. Students apply directly to the organization offering the internship, not the Arts Commission. The organizations will want to move as fast as possible so interns can start by May 31.
Graduating seniors who complete their undergraduate degrees by September 1, 2010 are eligible, as well as undergraduates. Applicants must have completed at least one semester of college by June 2010 and be currently enrolled (full-time) in a community college or a four-year university. Applicants must be a resident of and/or attending school in Los Angeles County.
Interns work for 10 consecutive weeks starting between May 31 and June 11, 2010 and ending between August 6 and August 20, 2010. They are paid $350 per week, for 40 hours a week, and take part in educational and arts networking activities.
Highland Hall May Faire Celebration

The Highland Hall Waldorf School views each child as a growing human being of body, soul, and spirit, all of which must be nurtured by education. The school places human development and art at the center of its work and curriculum. It prepares young people to meet the world with inner confidence, to trust in the value of each human being, and to think and work with initiative in their lives. Following the indications of Austrian scientist and philosopher Dr. Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), the children are taught in the context of their own stage of development with the understanding that subjects must be brought to them in different ways at different ages. The capacity for serious academic work and thinking in the high school is first prepared through healthy play and artistic learning in the kindergarten and lower grades. Children are not rushed, but encouraged.
The Highland Halll school is presenting a May Faire celebration. May 1, 2010. 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. Maypole at 10:30 a.m.
Music, crafts, facepainting, food, vendors.
