11th ANNUAL LA CANCER CHALLENGE WALK/RUN
THE L. A. CANCER CHALLENGE 5K/10K CONTINUES TO FIGHT PANCREATIC CANCER

The Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, dedicated to finding a cure for Pancreatic Cancer and improving early detection methods, presents the 11th Annual L. A. Cancer Challenge (L.A.C.C.) 5K/10K Walk/Run and Kids Can Cure Fun Run. Striving to surpass last year’s record-breaking attendance, more than 3,500 men, women and children of all ages are expected to participate; many will be dressed in festive Halloween costumes. In 2007, more than $456,000 was raised contributing to over $1.6 million dollars raised over the past ten years. *With the highest fatality rate of all cancers, nearly 37,000 people will be diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer this year in the United States. It is the #1 fatality rate of all cancers and is the #4 cancer killer in the U.S. among both men and women.

Presented by Under Armour Performance Apparel, the L.A.C.C. will feature a Health & Fitness Expo, Halloween Kid Zone with pumpkin decorating, Halloween Costume Parade and the fabulous Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast for $5.00 per person.

Cristian de la Fuente is Honorary Guest at Grand Opening of North America's First SEA LIFE Aquarium
ACTOR LENDS HIS PASSION OF THE OCEAN TONEW AQUARIUM DESIGNED TO BE A CHILD’S GUIDETO THE LIFE OF THE SEA

WHAT: The official “kelp cutting” for North America’s first SEA LIFE™ Aquarium as its doors open to the public for the first time. The grand opening ceremony included entertainment, the announcement of the S.O.S. (Save our Seas) Poster Project winners and special guest Cristián de la Fuente.

WHO: Cristián de la Fuente, joined President and General Manager John Jakobsen and Senior Curator Chris Spaulding in officially welcoming the first guests and presenting three lucky and talented winners of the S.O.S. (Save our Seas) Poster Project with grand prize packages.

De la Fuente will accept a donation on behalf of SEA LIFE Aquarium’s S.O.S. campaign.

All 15 finalists were the first to enter the new Aquarium.

DETAILS: The 36,000 square-foot two-story Aquarium features 14 areas intended to inspire, immerse and educate children about the wonderful creatures of the sea. The Lost City of Atlantis features a 10-foot-tall, 1700 pound statue of Poseidon, amazing sea creatures including sharks and sting rays, and an 11-foot-long LEGO® submarine and divers made of thousands of bricks.
