'Gift of Art' Marketplace
By Staff Writer

Want unique, one-of-a-kind items for your holiday gift-giving? You need look no further than Topanga Canyon Gallery's annual holiday show: Gift of Art. Local artists, including a number of Valley residents, have created a cornucopia of "gift possibilities you absolutely will not find anywhere else!" vow Felice Willat and Nancy Williams, co-chairs of the event..
"Give those special people on your holiday gift list a present they will treasure for years, not something they will return on December 26," the two advise.
"You will find everything from contemporary and traditional 2D art to sculpture, custom jewelry, art glass and ceramics."
"And there's an added bonus," notes Ken Fermoyle, a TCG member from Woodland Hills. "The drive down the canyon is lovely this time of year. The sycamore leaves are banana yellow and the liquid amber trees add touches of burnished red and brown, all mixed in with greens and browns along the way. Not as spectacular as Vermont, maybe, but it's a grand sight for this veteran photographer's eye!"
Once at the gallery, a popular holiday show feature is quickly evident..
"We have a wall original 6x6" art works, all priced at $50. These are not prints or reproductions, but one-of-a-kind items created by talented artists," reports Sue Lomino, a long=time TCG member, also from Woodland Hills.
"Our artists put their hearts into their work, as well as their talents" John Brunnick, a painter from Van Nuys, chimes in. "I think you will sense that feeling of dedication if you attend the December 20 reception, where you will be able to meet and talk with the artists who have work on display."
"TCG artists always work hard to create special pieces for this annual event, which we consider our holiday marketplace, and to offer them at the most reasonable prices possible," Williams adds. "Never has that been more true than this year when the economy is hutting. There will be ample evidence of that as the reception."
Other Valley artists who are TCG artists include Karen Saviskas and Kathy Goldberg, West Hills; Alisa Gabrielle and Farideh Azad, Woodland Hills.
The show runs through January 10. A special reception will be held Sunday. December 20 during regular hours (11 am to 5 pm).
The gallery will be open Tuesdays, with same hours (10 am to 6 pm) as normal Wednesday-Saturday hours. Sunday hours will continue to be 11 am to 5 pm. For added convenience, the gallery will also be open 10-2 on Monday, December 21. For further information, call the gallery.
