4 SIMPLE STEPS TO GOOD FENG SHUI
By Tess Whitehurst

Does your home make you happy? Feng shui is the art of making your home into a place that not only makes you happy, but also healthy, harmonious, and prosperous. It's easy to understand how it works: When your home base is an oasis that gives you positive messages about yourself and your life, your entire life experience flow in a more positive way.

Beginning to implement feng shui principles in your home can sometimes feel overwhelming because of the sheer volume and varied sources of feng shui information out there. But no longer! In reality, many aspects of feng shui are quite simple, and you can put them into practice immediately. Here are four easy steps to bringing harmony and grace to your space, and success and balance to all areas of your life.

1. Clear clutter. You've heard it a million times before. But this really is rule #1 when it comes to feng shui. Clutter in your home represents and indicates clutter in your mind, body, and affairs. Releasing the old makes room for new and improved outlooks, relationships, opportunities, and conditions. Ideally, everything in your home should be something you love. Take the time you need to thoroughly clear your clutter. Your time couldn't be better spent.

2. Make your front door sparkle. The front door is the first impression, and the area that sets the tone for the degree of harmony and prosperity in the home. In any way possible, make sure the front door is expressing it's highest potential. For you, this might mean any or all of the following:

3. Cozy up the bedroom. The bedroom is the potential site of not only a good night's sleep (which affects every area of your life), but also passion and romance! As much as possible, make this room into a haven for rest and intimate moments.
Remove non-restful and non-romantic items, such as exercise equipment, work reminders, and family pictures.

It's ideal for your bed to have two nightstands and two lamps, as an affirmation of a healthy and balanced relationship, and to create the space for a partner if you're single.
Warm and earthy colors are best, such as red, gold, peach, orange, pink, brown, tan, and cream.

Steer away from too many blues, greens, or grays, as these can be cooling, and neither cozy nor romantic.

Have trouble sleeping? Try covering your mirrors at night for a week and see if it helps. If it does, consider removing them altogether. Mirrors are very energizing, and can sometimes affect your sleep patterns.

4. Sit in the power position. Do you think for a moment that the president would decide to change things around in the oval office and face his desk so that his back was to the door? Never! This is because sitting a bit away from the door, but so that you can see the door, is the power position.

Whenever you can, position your most frequented seats so that you can see the main door to the room. When this is not possible, position a mirror so that you can see behind you. This will help to make you more comfortable in your home, and more confident in your life.

Feng shui is an essential key to honoring and coming into alignment with ourselves, our loved ones, our goals, and our planet. Obtaining a feng shui consultation is a deep healing treatment for both you and your space: a highly effective method of coming into profound inner and outer alignment and creating harmony on every level.
