By Staff Writer

Kravings is the latest exquisite faire on the boulevard in the valley. It's a much needed addition for the upscale populace in a climate of mundane eateries from which to choose. This innovative restaurant offers something new to the palate for those wishing to have an extraordinary dining experience without traveling over the hill. The menu offers a genre of gourmet meat choices often found in Brazilian eateries. The restaurant is elegant, and has an inviting romantic ambience. The chef at Kravings prepares a daily world fusion variety that features not only a delectable variety of open-fire-grilled meats, which include steak, poultry, and seafood. A continuous round of samples from several different ethnicities are offered to guests to feast on. The chef at Kravings prepares from several different ethnicities, but also offers a distinct dimension a simple yet satisfying twist to this popular concept.

Located in Tarzana, this brand-new restaurant offers two main dining options. You have the opportunity to eat ala carte from a selection of appetizers and meats. But for the real Kravings experience, the reason d'être, one must choose the price fixe menu. For dinner, its $35 on Sunday through Thursday and $40 on Friday and Saturday (it's always $25 for kids for the dinner options). The main option is all you can eat; with the choice of sixteen of a possible thirty-four different meats, (they serve eight meats for their $17 weekday lunch buffet).

The menu has a variety of carved marinated meats from steak to lobster, chicken and fish seasoned to perfection, with exotic textures and presentation that will leave you in awe. There are many options made to order, including Brazilian Picahna, a top sirloin culinary masterpiece, Moroccan beef kebobs, Tandoori chicken, and Japanese yakitori, destined to be a favorite. The ethnic styles span from every corner of the globe fusing Japanese, middle-eastern, Indian, and Brazilian. All choices are of a high quality and each sampling is richly seasoned and exquisitely prepared. The wine list has been hand chosen to accentuate the maximum palatability to accompany each pairing on the menu. The sweetened black ice tea is a wonderful aromatic alternative to enhance the flavorful cuisine.

Table favorites include the traditional filet mignon, the butter lemon grilled salmon, and the Tandoori chicken. The skewers were hearty and satisfying exceeding all expectations. The valley is tilted with steak houses and commonplace choices, however, Kravings uniquely offers a fresh accent to the high demand of quality, flavor, and atmosphere. The bar, in of itself is a stand alone meeting place for family and friends to congregate and celebrate life without the pretentious protocol of the typical mediocre bar menu. Enjoy the tappas style menu navigating a micro sampling of all of Kraving's signature dishes. You can enjoy mind blowing cocktails and unprecedented quality with a wide variety of libations and snacks from which to choose.

It is refreshing that a new concept in our valley neighborhood can be so readily embraced. Overall, Kravings is a lovely new eatery with a genuine twist on a traditional idea. The prices are reasonable, the service is more than accommodating, and the food is exciting and very good as you will leave kraving for more.
