GETTING THE BODY YOU WANT BY SIMPLY LOVING THE BODY YOU'RE IN
By Monique K. Chambers

The year is coming to an end and change is coming to the world as a whole. This is impacting all of us on levels we can't even articulate. Every year we make promises and proclaim enormous attempts at goals in which we have no idea how we will even accomplish them. Stress has been so high it is off the charts and we must not allow ourselves to get pulled into the pressures of the world. It is time to renew our birthrights as human beings, to regenerate our energy, reconnect to what truly matters to us individually and to be committed to change in all areas of our day-to-day lives.

Change evokes energy. Energy is "the capacity for action or accomplishment; the effort the mind and body is able to exert to move from the current state to a desired state." Remember the famous formula of Einstein, E = mc2. We can create a similar formula:

E (inner enthusiasm) = mc2 (Mind) (Consciously Connected)

We must take time out to quiet our minds and reconnect to our inner guide in order to become conscious beings. In order to consciously direct the mind we need the experience of a cosmic force that creates spiritual fitness in order to act believably on our beliefs. The time has come to have self-value. The fact is there is nothing more amazing, more beautiful or more worthy than you are. You have to come to the awareness that prosperity and peace of mind are your birthright. In the midst of our changing times, you may be looking for fulfillment of the self and the best road map to that is through meditation and yoga.

Why meditation and yoga? With the two you work together in order to stop searching and you begin to practice, and your flow becomes as vast as the universe itself. You authenticate yourself. Yoga is union of the mind body and spirit. Meditation brings with it mental clarity and brings forth spiritual growth. A regular daily practice of yoga and meditation can eliminate stress and uncertainty and can only bring with it prosperity, bliss, love for self and peace of mind.

Let the worlds change be your catalyst for change in your life. We must learn to welcome change and change the way in which we think about ourselves, our bodies, our work, our families, and the world so that we can take control of our health 365 days a year as oppose to once a week or when a new year is dawning. Healthy living means lifestyle changes including a renewed way of thinking about your overall way of being.

And the question is no longer "To be, or not to be," it is "To be, to be." "I am, I Am."

New Year's Resolution

As the year approaches its end, for many of us, improving our health and eating habits is on top of the list. So, here are some tips for a successful plan of action when it comes to adapting healthy eating and keeping it.

Plan two snacks each day - Menu planning goes a long way and will keep you from reaching for that bag of chips or cookies. Preparing snacks and meals ahead, can save you a lot of extra calories. Veggies, fresh strawberries, air-popped popcorn, almonds are great to have handy.

Eat lean protein (fish, skinless poultry, beans, tofu, or lean beef) and a smaller portion of healthy starches (whole grains, sprouted breads, sweet potatoes, peas, beans, yams) Also include a source of healthy fat (oils, nuts, avocado, etc.)

Don't use exercise to compensate for calories- too much can throw your body off and actually make it more difficult to shed the excess weight.

Create a resolution that surrounds a goal that is realistic.

Try a few changes at a time. Give yourself time to become confident and familiar with the changes and, in turn your small successes will boost your confidence.

Keep yourself informed on the physical and mental benefits of healthy eating habits. This will be a constant reminder.

Don't let yourself feel deprived. Rather understand that there is a whole world of foods that you can enjoy.

Keeping yourself hydrated can also increase your chances.

One of the best resolutions you can make is to not start another diet, but rather make a lifestyle change.

Hollywood's Best Kept Secret: Changing Your Life for the Better
By Marjorie Hope Rothstein

It's a new year, a new you! After the holidays you can relax a bit and go back to normalcy. However, in this fast paced life that we all lead, you may be experiencing the signs of burnout. Chronic fatigue, drinking too much caffeine, feeling stuffed, partying with friends more and drinking more alcohol, pushing yourself at work to make deadlines, skipping the gym and workout routine, can be signs that you are in adrenal burnout. Do you dream of escaping the stresses of everyday life and heading to a hideaway to unwind?

There is a private retreat that promises to teach you to take care of yourself. Remember that when you take care of yourself first, then you can take care of others. This remote enclave, We Care Spa is off the beaten path in Desert Hot Springs, California. It is one of the best-kept secrets of the Hollywood starlets, rock stars and power players who come here to experience the intensive cleansing and personal touch of this healing retreat. We Care really does care about your health, with its specialized protocol of juice fasting and practical classes on healthful diet, which ensure that you are also educated on the benefits of detoxing, so that the results are life changing and long term. We Care is also a spiritual retreat that will soothe both your mind and soul.

Argentinean-born Susana Lom-bardi is the founder of this exceptional healing retreat and the embodiment of the healthy lifestyle. "Once your body is cleansed, your mind defogs and you can think clearly. Then you can make more appropriate decisions for yourself…You can see and feel things from a different level. When you have the energy to accomplish change in your own life first, then you can help change the world."

When I asked Susanna what motivated her to open up this healing center, she replied that it was because she saw so many people experiencing unnecessary pain and heartache because they were uninformed about health and self-care.

Susana's epiphany was discovered whilst on her own spiritual retreat many years ago with Elizabeth Clare Prophet, a world renowned spiritual leader and mystic. This is where Susana learned to meditate, and received a clear message in her mind to go back to Palm Springs and enlighten others on the benefits of these practices.

'After my divorce and in my search for my personal healing and peace, I began researching holistic health, and studying and teaching yoga. Following fasting, I noticed that my personality totally changed, and it was from my personal experience that I realized that I needed to share this with others.' Her desire is essentially to help people turn their lives around. "You come to the We Care Spa to change your life for the better."

If you love pampering, this is also the place to get some unique whole body care and signature treatments in the desert. My favorite is the 120 minute We Care Euphoria. It starts out with a sumptuous Rainforest, Green Tea, and Vitamin B mineral bath and a lemongrass exfoliation. The next step is an algae and Sedona clay body wrap that stimulates your lymphatic system and enhances the cleansing and nourishing of your skin. Your scalp is massaged with aromatherapy oils, which is followed by a body massage that leaves you in pure state of bliss.

While you are there, you may run into Alanis Morrissette, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, or Matt Damon. However the proper etiquette is to allow them their space and privacy. Remember, they are there-just like you-to escape the maddening crowd, so asking for a picture or an autograph should most definitely not be on your agenda.
