Genart and SOYROY nutrient snack kicked off Los Angeles fashionweek at the Peterson Museum with four health and ecofriendly designers: Velvet Leaf with "A Geometric Revolution", Brigid Catiis with "Brigid Catiis Lolita-The Fresh, The Chic, The Bold", Popomomo with" Searching for Aesthetic utopias" and The Battalion with "Harmony-A Duet Of Flamenco & New Wave" The evening’s host was Maggie Gyllenhaal.

These four upcoming designers showed collections that will be out in stores before spring 2009. Eco fashion (environmentally conscious clothes for both sexes) is one of the biggest trends since last year's boom at the fashion market and runways. The motto is reduse, reuse and recycle.

Velvet Leaf specializes in 100% ECO SKAL organic cotton, fair trade hand woven silk and sustainable fabrics made from beech Tree Fiber. Its fifteen piece collection contains pieces like the Juliette dress in pink silk with colored geometric shapes, the June dress in white silk with black organic cotton piping and Maxine jeans in charcoal organic denim with back-buttoned tee in white modal silk jersey.

Raissa Gerona’s designs for the Brigid Catiis collection, features floral denim and tube mini dresses, V-front and back bell sleeve tunics with removable sash and halter-vest mini dresses. This is a fresh young collection.

Lizz, Popomomo’s designer, features a collection where garments are mostly made from Soy jersey, natural hemp- tencel and organic cotton. Popomomo's line is all about organic cotton tees, plaid skirts and navy soy jersey dresses. The textile tencel is originally made from the cellulose found in the wool pulp.

Designer team Linda & Chrys Wong from Battalion says, "Our collection is inspired by Spain and the flamenco dancers this season and the basic colors are black, red and grey."

The collection features everything from bamboo organic cotton fleece motorcycle jackets to bamboo jersey to flamenco ruffle evening dresses.

Gen Art's second night, "Fresh Faces In Fashion" is one of the biggest ticket sales for supporters of upcoming designers in the fashion industry. The designers were Nanushka, Quail, Wayne Hadley, Peonie, Wayf, KZO, Liken and Maxine Dillon. An accessories reception and presentation one hour before the fashion show featured jewelry by Azature and Laura Kranitz and shoes by Jerome Rousseau and Posso.

On display was the winning design model of "Tone skincare Fashion Vision Award" 2008. The prize went to emerging designer Jolibe for her innovative designs elegantly interpreted the theme of “radiance” at the styles show. The evening was hosted by singer and actress Mandy Moore.

Clothing line Nanushka was established in the beginning of 2005 by Hungarian designer Sandra Sandor with women's active lifestyle in mind.Her line focuses on long lasting classic silhouettes in dresses in combination with comfort and function.

The concept behind Quail is the result of founder and designer Michelle Williams' desire to create beautiful clothes for the fashion forward girl at affordable prizes. She finds inspiration for her line from the grunge era to old fashion images of pinup girls from the 40's and 50's. The term "Quail" was a hipster slang word in the 60's to describe a woman.

Peonie is actually a swimwear line that focus on the sophistication and style together with unique laces, distinctive embellishment and refined accessories. Designer Lila Caren says: "My mission is to create bathing suits with beautiful designs for the woman who wants to feel sexy and confident and at the same time comfortable."

Laeken design house offers cool and casual with sexy silhouettes inspired by Tokyo street style and Australian sportswear. Their spring 2009 line presents a mélange of saccharine color with sport-inspired contours, mixing tie dye silks, Japanese cotton mesh and bright plaid colors like pink, ice blue, lime, teal and grey palettes.

Maxine Dillon’s collections show feminine fabrics and modern silhouettes with contrasting masculine edge. For spring 2009 the Maxine Dillon Collection will be available under the name of Revolve clothing.

Wayf's designer Meredith Fisher continues to design a collection that is fresh and fashion forward since its launch three years ago.

This line has plenty of sophisticated sublime dresses of pure silk that float when you move. The garments have interesting details such as asymmetrical straps over the shoulders. The skirtlength stays above the knee.

Wayne Joffe founded Wayne Hadly in late 2006 and is best known for his attention to detail and sharp vest silhouettes and that each garment made to order is expertly hand finished. His mensline is known for its global style and contrast of tuxedo jackets, double breasted outwear, motorcycle jackets and oxford style tweed pants.

K.Z.O. is a male clothing line designed and creative directed in Southern California by Joel K. He is clearly influenced by its Japanese counterpartsin Tokyo and Osaka. It is a menswear collection designed with a cinematic mindset on art, travel, film, soundtrack and multimedia. K.Z.O. is a mixture of casual street wear like hoodies to sophisticated pieces of leather jackets.

Sjobeck denim is actually a Swedish denim company that was launched by "Swedish Sjobeck" himself in 1983. Sjobeck was recently relaunched in Malibu by new owners. Sjobeck is not only denim, it is also a line that features cotton dresses, T-shirts, shorts and hoodies -all very cool and casual.
