Stargazer - A Valley Gem
By Crystal A. Johnson

Stargazer is an established banquet facility of eight years in the West Hills area, which has recently expanded to add a new cafe, bakery, and sports bar. Is Stargazer trying to be too many things too many people? From banquet hall for receptions to sports bar and café, it may seem like an odd combination but the folks at Stargazer make it all come together. The banquet hall business has been very good for the company and has afforded the owners the opportunity to expand. What is on a menu for a sports bar / cafe? (Note, there are two entryways, one for the sports bar experience and one for the cafe.) The menu is an eclectic assortment menu offering hamburgers, Chinese dumplings, taquitos, and cheesecake. My guest and I were privy to sampling quite a few offerings.
The delicious sandwiches are served on dense and hearty bread. We tried the cheeseburger, roast beef and tuna salad sandwiches. The best of the lot being the tasty and robust roast beef sandwich. However, the juicy cheeseburger and fresh tuna salad sandwich are also good choices.
Other items include ravioli in a white cream sauce, meatballs, and taquitos with guacamole. The ravioli dish is so creamy and appetizing, it screams a moment on the lips and a lifetime on the hips, but the sauce is light and airy. For those watching calories, the ravioli is also offered with a marina sauce. The meatballs steal the show. The spicy meatballs are bursting with flavor. They are not drowned in a sauce. The meatball seasoning performs by itself. Spicy food lovers should definitely order the meatballs. We loved the guacamole paired with the taquitos. Personally, guacamole is not on my list of things to consume but I would special order the Stargazer guacamole for special events or suggest ordering some while watching a game in the restaurant's sports bar.
Owner Gloria Weischadle boasts that Stargazer has some of the best coffee around. We sampled the vanilla blend as we dined on a plethora of desserts. The coffee is extremely flavorful and a nice compliment to the berry tart for persons looking for a morning sugar boost, as the café portion of the restaurant is open for early birds. The cheesecake, lemon, and chocolate are also mouth-watering options. The chocolate cake with its deep dark frosting looks tempting in the bakery glass case and even more flavorful on the palate. The cheesecake is marvelous. Another eye-catching cake is the lemon cake with etching like a maze and shaped like a mound.
One can hardly miss the purple building with red colored lettering on 6501 Fallbrook Ave. Its' location may be familiar to some given it shares the parking with the Fallbrook Center in West Hills. Stargazer also has multiple flat screen TV's, a happy hour and Monday Night Football as well as NFL Sundays. It is family friendly and worth checking out. For more information or reservations for their banquet facility for weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, holiday parties, or any special occasion, call (818) 704-6633.
