American Wine & Food 27th Anniversary Festival

On October 3, 2009, the American Wine & Food Festival will celebrate the 27th edition of their fundraising event at Universal Studios from 6-11 PM. A major benefit for Los Angeles area Meals on Wheels, this sellout event will feature over 35 of the nation’s top restaurants and chefs in addition to over 75 premium wines and wineries. Hosted by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck and Barbara Lazaroff, the event attracts over 2,500 attendees on the Universal Studios backlot. Set against a beautifully designed atmosphere, generous food samplings will be provided by such notable restaurants as Spago, Matsuhisa, Palate Food & Wine, Norman’s(Miami), Payard New York, Manzanita Lake Tahoe, Four Seasons Maui, Craftsteak, Café Annie, Sam Choy’s(Hawaii), and others. Guests will be greeted with complimentary champagne as they enter the party. There will also be an extensive silent auction featuring over 200 items including vacations and stays at elegant hotels and resorts, premium wine packages, jewelry, celebrity memorabilia, and many other VIP items. All night entertainment will be provided by a ten piece dance band as well as a festive late night disco lounge featuring gourmet desserts and sparkling wines.

A Friday night kickoff event with takes place on October 2. This smaller and more intimate party features gourmet food tastings and premium spirits in an upscale atmosphere. On Sunday, September 4, the Chef’s Grand Tasting Dinner takes place at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago restaurant in Beverly Hills. This event will be attended by the participating festival chefs and will feature a gourmet six course dinner with fine wine pairings.

In addition to regular tickets for the Saturday night event, VIP tickets for a one hour pre-event cooking demonstration by Wolfgang Puck are also available.

The American Wine & Food Festival has raised over 23 million dollars in the past 26 years. Volunteers deliver meals each day for home bound and elderly persons by Los Angeles area Meals On Wheels. Meals on Wheels chapters in Southern California include West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Topanga, and the San Fernando Valley. Star Wars: In Concert

Star Wars™: In Concert, a unique multi-media event featuring music from all six of John Williams' epic Star Wars scores, begins its worldwide arena tour on October 1 and 2, 2009 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and October 7 and 8 at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, California.

Narrated live by Anthony Daniels (the actor who portrayed C-3PO in all six films), the production features a full symphony orchestra and choir, accompanied by specially edited footage from the films displayed on a three-story-tall, high-definition LED super-screen. The live music and film elements are synchronized in order to create a full multi-media, one-of-a-kind Star Wars experience.

Accompanying the concert is an exclusive exhibit of Star Wars costumes, props, artifacts, production artwork and specially created behind-the-scenes videos from the Lucasfilm Archives.

Night at the Reyes Adobe Unveils Art Scene

The Reyes Adobe Historical Site is hosting a special art Night at the Adobe offering a sneak preview of Agoura Hill's Art Scene in the picturesque, candle-lit backdrop of the historic adobe home and barn. While enjoying works of art by established and emerging local artists, patrons are invited to sample wines from regional boutique wineries sponsored by Wade Wines.

Art Scene is a 360-degree exhibition of paintings, photography, sculptures, mobiles, and installation art in a variety of indoor/ outdoor settings. The Art Gallery within Art Scene will feature artists Carol Henry and her Obama project, a series of folk art studies; Wes Van Dyke, grandson of Dick Van Dyke, whose nature and pop art demonstrates vibrant versatility; sculptor Joe Wertheimer displaying life-size animal works; and photographer Jean Claude Louis who won the 2007 National Geographic Award for his portraits. Patrons can also take part in Yoko Ono's Wishing Tree, an "Imagine Peace" global project, and a thumbprint art community project. An artist gift shop will be open with hand-made pottery, jewelry, note cards, and other artisan crafts.
