Queen Mary International Children's Art Contest

The Queen Mary has announced an International Art Contest for children that will continue through the end of October.

The Queen Mary is inviting children to submit their best artwork depicting the historic ship based on what they feel is most important about its history - past or present. They can use whatever artistic medium they choose, for example a drawing, painting, sculpture, etc. The only requirement is that the Queen Mary is depicted in the artwork.

The contest is open to all individual children, grades Kindergarten through 8th. No group submissions will be accepted. The last date for submissions is October 31, 2009.

After all submissions are received, the artwork will be judged by a panel of educators consisting of five people. There will be three sets of four winners each, divided by age groups. The age groups will be Kindergarten through Second graders, Third through Fifth graders and Sixth through Eighth graders. Each winning group will have a 1st Place winner, 2nd Place winner, 3rd Place winner and an Honorable Mention (4th Place winner).

There will be three sets of prizes, one set for each age group. The prizes will be:

1st Place - Two-night stay, with breakfast and tours for the winner and their family (up to five persons)

2nd Place - Two General Admission passes good for 12 months for as many visits as they like

3rd Place - Sunday Brunch for four

4th Place - Copy of book, 'The Queen Mary Story'
