Dignity Health – Northridge Hospital Medical Center (NHMC) has received multiple 2020 honors from Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions. Northridge Hospital was named among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care, Coronary Intervention, Stroke Care, Pulmonary Care, Gastrointestinal Care, General Surgery, and Critical Care.
“We’re honored to be recognized by Healthgrades for the outstanding quality care we provide our community,” states Paul Watkins, Northridge Hospital President and CEO. “These awards reflect our vision of providing safe, compassionate medical care with excellent clinical outcomes. It also highlights the ongoing investments in training and technology to assure those in the San Fernando Valley that they’ll receive the highest quality care right here, close to home.”
Specifically, Northridge Hospital received Five-Star recognitions in six areas, including heart care, critical care, neurosciences, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and orthopedics procedures. A Five-Star rating indicates that our clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated. Additionally, NHMC is honored to receive the Critical Care Excellence Award for 8 Years in a Row (2012 -2020), which shows its commitment to providing the highest quality trauma services for people in immediate need of life-saving treatment.
These achievements are part of findings by Healthgrades featured in their 2020 Report to the Nation. “The new report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals regionally and nationally, illustrating the importance for consumers to use information about outcomes to assess where to receive care,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Healthgrades. “These Five-Star ratings in the areas of cardiac, orthopedics, neurosciences, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, and critical care showcase the expertise and commitment of Northridge Hospital to their patients.”
